Kevin Earl Wright, 67, of Monticello, IN, passed away on April 14, 2025. He was born on July 24, 1957, in Monticello to Alfred Earl Wright and Barbara Wright.
Kevin was a proud union laborer and retired from Laborers Local 274. Over his career, he helped rebuild parts of Monticello after the devastating tornado in the 1970s—including bridges, the jail, and the high school. His work left a lasting mark on his hometown.
Kevin had a deep love for music, NASCAR, firearms, and his family. A talented drummer, he played paid gigs all over Monticello at local spots like the Whiskey Wine Saloon, The Roof at Indiana Beach, Docks, and aboard the Madam Carroll. He was once a member of a Christian rock band called Neon in Florida before his son Adam was born.
He also had a passion for racing go-karts, a tradition he shared with his father Alfred, his brother Zeke, and his son Todd. But above all, Kevin was a devoted single father who raised his three boys and later helped raise multiple grandchildren. His family meant everything to him.
Kevin is survived by his mother, Barbara Wright; his children Jasmine Adkins-Wills (Brian Duff), Michael Wright (Teresa), and Adam Wright (Wendy); his grandchildren Nina Wills, Brittany Smith (Richie), Cody Emigh (Brianna), Tyler Emigh, Kylie Emigh, Alicia Cheyenne Emigh, Anthony Wright, Ashten Wright, Ayden Wright, Alex Wright, Adam Garcia, and Austin Wright; and his great-grandchildren Baylen Wills, Greyson Richard Matute, Bella Raine Matute, Aria Emigh, and Kalli Emigh.
He was preceded in death by his father Alfred Wright, his grandmother Helen Herron, his brother Zeke Wright, his son Todd Emigh, and his granddaughter Analeis Garcia.
Kevin’s family was the most important thing to him, and he will be missed dearly.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no official service. The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
