We announce with deep sorrow the passing of Mr. Kerry Martin on November 15, 2023. Born on May 22, 1960, Kerry was a beacon of joy, intelligence, humor and sheer talent, an expert horseback rider whose presence was felt in every room he entered.

Kerry leaves behind a family that loved him dearly. He is survived by his sister, Michelle Blair, and his brothers, Robin and Michael Martin. His legacy remains strong in his son, Jason Taylor, his daughter, Keely Cameron, his son, Jesse Brandt, and his daughter, Emily Shay.

His nieces, Charity Blake, Brandi Blair and Devin Hudson, and his nephews, Chase Hudson, Jimmy Martin, Josh Martin, Derek Martin, and Patrick Martin, will remember him fondly. Kerry joins his beloved parents, James "Buddy" Martin and Nancy Alexander Martin, who predeceased him in this final journey.

Kerry's brilliant mind and infectious humor were only surpassed by his incredible capacity to excel at whatever he pursued. Among his many accomplishments, his prowess in rodeos and team penning stands out, a testament to his skill and dedication. But perhaps his proudest accomplishment and his most enduring legacy is his children, whom he loved with an all-encompassing love.

True to his nature, Kerry had lessons to share with us all. His message was simple but profound: Be strong but fair. This simple principle served as a foundation for the impactful life he lived. 

Kerry requested a small service with immediate family only, but we appreciate everyone's love and support and encourage everyone to share their memories. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Will's Place in Albemarle, NC, a Recovery Resource Center. Such a gesture would honor Kerry's lifelong dedication to helping others and supporting communities.

Kerry Martin was more than a beloved family member. He was a brilliant, funny, and talented individual whose legacy will continue to shine in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
