Kenyon's obituary
Kenyon was born in Chicago to Edward and Doris Kash. He grew up in Valley Forge, PA, and moved to Port Washington in 1969, graduating from Paul D. Schreiber High School with the class of 1974. It was in high school that Kenyon discovered a love for gymnastics and later for bicycling.
Following two years at Stony Brook University, Kenyon moved to Buffalo State University, where he majored in special education and continued pursuing his passion for bicycling, riding 80-100 miles a week. He eventually qualified for the Empire State Games and competed twice in the 24-hour Pepsi Bicycling Marathon in New York City’s Central Park, riding 310 miles in his second try.
While living in Buffalo, he shifted gears, working in bicycle retailing and wholesaling sales positions. After getting married there, he and his wife later moved to the greater Denver, Colorado area, where he continued working in the bicycle business. After some years, the marriage dissolved and Kenyon subsequently moved to Los Angeles, where he continued riding in local bicycle clubs and devoted the later part of his life providing in-home care services to adults with Multiple Sclerosis.
Kenyon always had a heart to serve. He was an avid reader and an enthusiastic story-teller, loved cooking and tinkering with electronics, and came to love “California Living” in Santa Monica.
He is survived by his mother, Doris Kash, his sister Autumn and his brother Wyatt.
Memorial services were held on Friday, November 29, 2019, at the Sands-Willet House in the Port Washington, NY. (Pictures from the memorial service and the eulogy appear nearby on this site.
