Bill McDonald
1983, Coon Rapids, MN, USA
This story has been shared at many gatherings over the years, but one more time.
One of our favorite things to do as a kids was take those little styrofoam delta darts and fire them at each other.
Because this wasn’t dangerous enough we thought it would be a good idea to push toothpicks into the tip.
We setup fortifications in the basement and engaged in combat. Those delta darts did not fly very straight and no one was hitting a damn thing!
Then Kenyon poked his head up over his fort, I pulled back, and released. The dart flew a beautiful corkscrew pattern and stuck that toothpick right in Kenyons top lip. His eyes flew wide as me and the other combatants broke out with laughter at the site of my little brother with a styrofoam delta dart protruding from the center of his top lip.
Our laughter was interrupted by Kenyons pleas” Get it out! Get it out!”
I mercifully plucked the delta dart and it’s attached toothpick from his lip, leaving a perfect little hole in his lip.

Kenyon would state that he still had phantom pains well into his adult life.

Miss you brother!
So very sorry to hear this sad news. What a good and kind soul. My condolences to all of his family and loved ones.

Merle McDonald - Wendy, I can not begin to tell you what a shock to Sandy and I this was. We know Kenyon was close to the Lord and we pray this will bring some comfort to you, Tinley and Sawyer. If there is anything we can do please let us know. God bless you all.

Wendy, no words can express how we are feeling.
I think the first time I met Kenyon was when I was his Camp counselor at Patmos. After camp he didn’t have a ride in from Coon Rapids to come to youth group so I would head up there with Wayne Holum to pick him up. Many good times.
May God lift you up in the midst of this time.

So sad to hear about Kenyon. The boys really appreciated him as a youth leader. Prayers for your family.
Wendy, our hearts are heavy as we think of this world without Kenyon. Our prayers are for you, Tinley and Sawyer. We can’t walk around our house without thinking of Kenyon and all of the time he spent here helping us with the seemingly endless list of projects and repairs that overwhelmed us when we first moved back to MN and into our Hopkins home. As I was thinking, I realized that nearly every light fixture in our house was replaced by Kenyon. I couldn’t help but think how very fitting that is... the light of Jesus shined brightly in Kenyon and clearly blessed so many of us. May the many memories of Kenyon bring you comfort and may his love for Jesus be a source of peace and hope for your family. Much love to you, Tinley and Sawyer,
Michele and Greg, Rose, Celia, Esmae and Abram
When Kenyon was born he was the very best baby. After about six months to a year, I said he was God's child. I know we all are,but he was so very special. He loved his church, the group he traved with, and his family. He may have made some bad choices the past few years, but that didn't change him. I am so grateful for the last few weeks we spent together, He is my son, my baby and I will miss him terribly. Be at peace now baby. Mom

I am shocked and heartbroken to hear of Kenyon’s passing. He was one of the kindest gentlemen I’ve *ever* met. We first met back at ECFE when our kids were all little. His family and his faith were everything to him. His evergreen enthusiasm and positivity was inspiring. And he made the coolest Halloween costumes ever! Wendy, T. and S., my heart goes out to you. 💜 Kenyon made such a difference in the lives of many and will be fondly remembered.
Kenyon was our son’s favorite person at Calvary. He was his small group leader during the middle school years and became a mentor. We are heartbroken to hear of his passing. His spirit for leading people to Christ was amazing. God please cherish and accept a true and faithful servant to your kingdom. And for family of his, I am so sorry for your loss. May God comfort you and keep you held.

Wendy and kids, I am so sorry to hear this. May you feel held, supported, & loved through all these difficult days and nights. May the peace which passes all understanding lift and sustain you!
My kids and I will never forget the year when my life was falling into pieces and Geoff was gone and you and Kenyon came to our house on Russell to “visit” although Kenyons version of visiting was to fix all the things that needed fixing like our broken screen door, some plumbing issues and I can’t remember all of what he fixed ... all I remember is being so so grateful because I felt so alone and so helpless to do anything with two small kids and was just trying to keep myself together. And Ally Especially was really missing her daddy and Kenyon was so kind and loving with her and made her feel so special. I also remember the purses he knit for both girls with the big clay buttons. They had them forever! They kept stretching over time so I think they eventually became diaper bags for their bitty babies and are probably still in their box of doll clothes. They loved their uncle Kenyon and Auntie Wendy and we couldn’t have chosen better more faithful godparents. He will be so missed. 💔💔💔

Wendy, Tinley, and Sawyer, I am so sad to hear about Kenyon and your incredible loss. Peace, strength, and love be with you as you grieve.
Dear Wendy, children and family. I am so sorry to learn of your loss. May your pain and sorrow be comforted by our blessed Lord and savior Jesus Christ and his promise that he left us with; that he has prepared a place for Kenyon and that we shall be together again. Matthew 25:23 "His master replied, "Well done, my good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; Come and share your master's happiness!'
