Kent's obituary

Kent Allen Sourdiff, 55 of Jacksonville Fl passed away unexpectedly on Thursday September 17, 2020. He was born on December 30, 1964 in Bridgeport CT. He was raised in Burlington VT and later made Colchester his hometown. As a young boy Kent was an altar server at St. Joseph’s Church and spent many years in scouting later earning the Ad Altare Dei. He also had a love of trains and had a collection that was complete with villages, mountains and running brooks.

Kent went to Burlington High School and later earned his GED. Kent was a hard worker and at a young age worked at Bessery’s Meat Market and Wesson’s Diner part time. Kent also worked many years at his Grandmother’s Dairy Queen in Burlington. In 1985 he started working at Bouyea-Fassett’s Bakery as a route driver, he loved meeting people, some of whom would become lifelong friends. He later worked in Essex Junction at IBM as head cook with his dad before making Jacksonville, FL his hometown. In Jacksonville, Kent found himself “back in the kitchen” working for the family “Wing” business as head cook. He branched off on his own with his successful Food truck/Catering business Xtreme Wings Mobile. Kent loved the “Foodie” life and the many people he met who became fast friends. He had a passion for cooking and that's how his career started. Whether cooking for a home gathering or an event, Kent was in charge and the final product was always delicious! He was a huge Nascar fan and could be found cooking in the arena prior to the Daytona 500. There were hours of prep and he enjoyed sharing stories and the “feast” with family, friends and “arena” friends he had just made.

Kent’s pride and joy was his daughter Cassandra, the apple of his eye. They had a very special bond. He would take every opportunity to tell people how proud he was of her. He also had a love for the water, and they could often be found on Lake Champlain boating on the “Hi N Dri”.

He is survived by his Beloved daughter Cassandra Lee Sourdiff of Florence, VT; His Mother Linda Taylor of Essex, VT; His three siblings and their spouses; Kelley and (Michael) Lane of Milton, VT; Kullen and (Meaghan) Sourdiff of Jacksonville Fl and Collin and (Erin) Sourdiff of Underhill, VT. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Special cousin and friend “T” - Tina Rutledge; and his “Chosen” brother Steve and (Kelly) LeBlanc and their family. Kent is preceded in death by his Father Alfred M Sourdiff.

Kent was one of a kind and larger than life. He lived life to the fullest and lived life his way, he has definitely left his mark. He had a heart of gold and was always there for anyone at any time. Kent’s sense of humor was unmatched and his laughter infectious. Kent was a “brother” to everyone, and his charm and smile lit up a room. It didn’t matter who you were, you could count on three things, good food, great stories and lots of laughter. Kent will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to cross his path.

“The only real stumbling block is fear of failure. In cooking, you’ve got to have a what-the hell attitude” - Julia Child.
