Kelly, A little late but Very sorry to hear about Kent. I was by Al Jones today and he informed me about Kent. From the Surges family we give our heart felt condolences. I have many good funny memories of me my son Dereck, Keith and Kent golfing together. My son and I were golfing last week and he brought up when we were golfing at The Bourne with Keith and Kent. We were driving the old golf carts to the next hole which was up a big paved hill. We joked the cart was going to go backwards because , well,
Two big guys in that cart were putting a lot of stress on it. It was going really slow Us four would laugh about that moment all the time.
Again sorry for your loss. He was a giant teddy bear

Kent, as my amazing brother-in-law, you were the perfect teammate for my sister. You two were an amazing partnership complementing each other like well choreographed dance partners needing no words. You two were the example of a couple adding up to way more than 1 plus 1. This is no mystery after knowing that you two were in the same Kindergarten class and then came together decades later. Ever since you and Kelly married, you were a solid part of the fabric of our family.
The Hilgers home in Warrenville was our family gathering spot for so many years. You were all so generous in hosting parties for special events, birthdays, holidays and for no reason at all but to enjoy each other's company. You were our private master chef! The pool, the barbecue cooker and the popcorn maker added that extra ambiance. You were always so generous with your time and energy helping me move boxes of books and providing food/cooking at dog shows too.
God bless you Kent and I pray you rest in peace.

Kent was always there for friends and family. He was like a fourth older brother to me when I was still a young boy. He supported all my addictions (and maybe his too) with trips to Galaxy World at Gala Lanes to play video games, fishing at all the local fishing holes, and tropical fish hunting at all the local fish stores. I was sure he was the coolest significant other that every entered our house when I found out he owned Piranhas. More importantly, Kent was always there for my sister. He was a devoted husband and father and managed to help raise two amazing and beautiful children. He was also always there for my parents. He treated them like his own and never hesitated to help when help was needed. Kent was a beautiful human and we are all better for having known and loved him. We will all miss him dearly.

Kent came to pick up Kelly for their first date on a motorcycle. He came with a van for the second date. I thought he was a killer and he was going to kill my sister.
Boy was I wrong. He was the sweetest, nicest person who loved my sister more than anything else on earth.
Rest in peace our dear Kent.

I was deeply saddened at the news of Kent's passing.
Kent, you were a great brother-in-law. Always there. There to deal with or hear about Imhoff drama. You allowed me to move in with you and your family (twice) during my divorce. You allowed me to treat your home as my home. You made me feel loved. I did my best to love you back. I will truly miss your friendship.
I could go on forever. How old was I when you came to the house for your first date with Kelly? Maybe I was 18 or 19. It was a long time ago. I mean the Bears winning the Superbowl will always be remembered and it was with you at your house in Villa Park. Half the fish tank water was emptied during the celebration. I remember visiting you and Kelly at your first apartment. I remember loading up in your white Chevy van and going to a Cubs games more than once. I remember enjoying the holiday meals you and Kelly cooked year after year for the entire family. You were amazing at it and always so generous in every way.
Even so far as to make a special meals for my vegetarian and vegan family members. So very sweet. I remember when we tried to bring that piece of concrete from the back of the truck to in front of your shed in Warrenville. I remember pouring concrete in that little corner of the basement in Villa Park under the kitchen addition. I remember the pool parties, cookouts, and most of all just hanging out with you. The vacations. Indiana Beach. Camping in various locations. Boating with you and Kevin. Of course we remember dirt biking.
You will always have a special place in my heart. I love you and miss you already so very much. RIP my brother from another mother. You are so very loved!
