Kenneth Griffin Scoggins

May 10, 1945 - May 14, 2011

Mr. Kenneth Griffin Scoggins, age 66, 3510 Wax Road, Aragon, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 14, 2011 in a local hospital.

Mr. Scoggins was born in Floyd County on May 10, 1945, son of the late Griffin and Adell Agan Scoggins. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Ann Jordan, and by a brother, Billy Joe Scoggins. Mr. Scoggins was self-employed in the heating and air conditioning trade and was employed for a number of years with General Electric here in Rome. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Lockheed-Martin in Marietta where he worked for over 12 years. Mr. Scoggins was a member of the Flint Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Survivors include his wife, the former Linda Akins, to whom he was married on December 30, 1966; a daughter, Mrs. Tara Scoggins Davenport, and her husband, James, Aragon; a son, Lang Scoggins, and his wife, Layne, Aragon; 6 grandchildren, Luke Scoggins, Robby Scoggins, and Kemi Scoggins, all of Aragon, Tiffany Davenport Horton, and her husband, G. W., Kingston, Ben and Abby Davenport, both of Aragon; a great grandson, Jacob Horton, Kingston; 2 sisters, Mrs. Betty Yarbrough, Rockmart, and Mrs. Carolyn Stephens, Aragon; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 2pm at the Flint Hill Baptist Church with his Pastor, the Rev. Don Spears and Mr. Tony Swafford officiating. Interment will follow in Flint Hill Cemetery with his Associate Pastor, the Rev. Lance Herst officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Flint Hill Baptist Church on Friday from 12 noon until service time. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.

Active and honorary pallbearers are requested to assemble at the Flint Hill Baptist Church on Friday at 1:30pm and are as follows: Active: Matt Akins, Jeremy Akins, Adam Akins, Josh Akins, Joey Akins, and Jared Swafford. Honorary: Jason Swafford, Terry Scoggins, Keith Jones, Michael Jones, Lloyd Frasier, Jimmy Mazurek, and Ron Williams.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
