Kenneth's obituary
With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Kenneth Phelps, who left us on April 20, 2023. Kenneth was born on November 22, 1941, and was a loving father, friend, and inspiration to many. He is survived by his daughters Susan Phelps, Brandi Tilghman, Cindy Williams, and Mary Phelps; his sons Mark Phelps and Rick Phelps; and was predeceased by his sons Ricky Phelps and Kenny Phelps.
Known for his wit and seriousness, Kenny was someone who approached life with dedication and a strong sense of humor. He was a man of many talents and interests, particularly drawn to the world of old country music. The memory of his voice and guitar playing will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the chance to experience it.
Never one to shy away from a little fun, Kenny was an avid fan of wrestling, following the shows with enthusiasm and great enjoyment. His love for the outdoors made him an avid fisher and later on in life he liked to go panning for gold in North Carolina, where he became known as "the gold man" to the little town he lived in.
A true people person, Kenny's genuine desire to help others defined his legacy. He was always ready to lend a hand to those in need and did so expecting nothing in return. His selflessness deeply impacted the lives of many and serves as an example for all to follow.
Some of his favorite things in life included playing and singing music, fishing, was a great cook, could fix just about anything if it had a motor. He loved him some sweet tea and enjoying a cup of coffee in the mornings. Kenny was a man of great character, and his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched. The lessons he shared about the importance of helping others will forever be a part of his lasting legacy.
As we mourn the loss of Kenneth "Kenny or Ken" Phelps, we must also celebrate the life he lived and the joy, laughter, and care he brought to all those around him. Though he may be gone, his memory will live on in each life he touched, and his example of love, generosity, and compassion will never be forgotten.
