Kenneth Michael McGourty, 69, of Denville, NJ passed unexpectedly on July 16, 2022 from natural causes. His loss was unexpected and the family is deeply saddened. Kenneth was born on February 16, 1953 to James and Lillian McGourty in Providence, RI. He attended school in Chatham Township and was a graduate of Newark Vocational High School where he excelled in auto mechanics. He worked as a security guard, heavy machine operator and truck driver. He was proud of his work paving runways at Newark Liberty Airport and spent many nights plowing snow from NJ interstates during the wee hours. His hobbies and passions included drag racing, railfanning and playing electric guitar. He was a member of the NHRA, owned a collection of guitars, model trains and CB radios. Despite living with the challenge of dyslexia, he taught himself to read and was exceptionally brilliant. Anyone who knew Kenneth, knew he was uniquely talented in carpentry, masonry, plumbing and auto mechanics. He loved his family, friends and pets. With a knack for telling captivating stories one might guess he had kissed the Blarney Stone. He was a source of good humor and helpfulness and will be missed more than words can say. Kenneth is predeceased by his parents James and Lillian and his brother Daniel. He is survived by his brothers James and Robert and sisters Deborah and Kathleen as well as several nieces and nephews. Kenny's preference would have been that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Common Sense for Animals in Stuartsville, NJ by calling 908-859-3060 or visiting their website https://commonsenseforanimals…. There will be a funeral mass held at 10:00am on Friday, November 11th at St. Mary's Church in Denville, NJ.
