Kenneth L. Mitchell, also affectionately known as Kenny or Ken, who was born on October 23, 1949, in Milton, West Virginia, has sadly passed away after a lengthy illness on September 30, 2024, in Baton Rouge, LA.

His genial presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kenneth was a man of many passions, strengths, and selflessness, leaving a legacy of generosity, kindness, and mentorship. He is survived by his son, Simeon Mitchell & wife Tami, his beloved daughters Kristin McKnight, and Heidi Diecedue, & her husband Joey. His adoring grandchildren, who brought immense joy into his life; Emily Montgomery, Elizabeth Mitchell, Christian Mitchell-Sikes, Lexie McKnight, Ethan McKnight, Julien, Roman, and Adrian Diecedue, his great-grandson Zachary Mitchell, his brother and sister-in-law Rodney & Judy Mitchell, all mourn his passing along with his sister-in-law Gloria Hughes, brother-in-law John Hughes, and Mitchell and Wheeler cousins. Kenneth was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 45 years, Janet Hughes Mitchell, as well as his parents, Lt. Col. Robert L. Mitchell USAF and Mariam Wheeler Mitchell, along with his in-laws Raymond Hughes, Doris DeGeorge, and Vincent DeGeorge,
Known for his love of The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, The Eagles, and many other bands in this Genre. Kenneth was a man of varied interests. He found comfort in the simple act of walking his beloved poodles, Buz and Beau, and cherished the time he spent gardening and helping people. His favorite local haunts included Sam's Club, Total Wine, and Mexican restaurants. He was also a fan of old Western TV shows, and enjoyed playing games like Monopoly and solving puzzles. He carried an appreciation for the sweet things in life, including his favorite food and drinks – sweets, Bourbon, and Root Beer.
Kenneth was an active supporter of causes he deeply cared about. He was known for helping friends in need and made regular donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital. His color of choice was hunter green, and his personality was a beautiful blend of selflessness, generosity, kindness, strength, smartness, and patience. The mantra of giving and helping others whenever possible was a central value he held and shared with those around him. Some of his greatest accomplishments included raising his children and grandchildren, and passing on his wisdom through mentoring and teaching HVAC. His legacy will be profoundly remembered in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched, including his rescue poodle, Beau.
Visitation for Kenneth will be held on October 10, 2024, at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA. from 11:30AM-1:30 PM, followed by a graveside service at the Bethel Cemetery, 325-661 Bethel Rd, Logansport, LA.
