Kenneth's obituary

Kenneth Michael Kilpatrick, Jr., was born on June 29, 1993 to the proud parents of Tamla M. Holifield and Kenneth M. Kilpatrick, Sr, in Miami, FL. From a young age, everyone who met “Little Kenny” knew that he was special. Before he started grade school, Kenneth could be presented with the emblem of any vehicle, whether foreign or domestic/standard or exotic, and accurately describe that vehicle, without exception. This was a talent that would continue to spring forth throughout his educational journey.

Kenneth excelled in academics, constantly finishing near the top of his class in every grade and in all core subjects. He attended Lorah Park Elementary School until the fifth (5th) grade, where he finished as the sole 5th grader to receive a perfect score on the mathematical portion of the, then state-required “Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT).” As a result of Kenneth’s outstanding academic performance in Elementary School, Kenneth was enrolled in the “Biomedical, Environmental, Agriculture Technology (BEAT)” Magnet Program at John F. Kennedy Middle School, where he continued to excel. From Middle School, Kenneth continued in his excellent academic performance and was enrolled in the “Biomedical & Environmental Advancement Magnet (BEAM)” program at North Miami Beach Senior High School, where he graduated “Cum Laude” and was a Florida Medallion Scholar Recipient in 2011. In 2016, Kenneth earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Information Technology from Florida State University.

After Kenneth graduated from college, he returned to Miami in search of a career. He would return to Tallahassee, FL, however, where he secured managerial and account management roles with Enterprise Holdings LLC and the City of Tallahassee, FL.

Kenneth was smart. And those who knew him personally were keenly aware of his love for family and friends. But no one was more important to Kenneth than his mother: Tamla. She was, indeed, a fierce advocate for Kenneth and he praised her central role in his upbringing often. And as often as he would praise his mother, his family and friends also praised him because of his spirit of service to others, his warm smile and humbled spirit. He was dependable, helpful, courteous, and always willing to go the extra mile to bring comfort to his family and friends. He was truly a gentle giant. Throughout his life, Kenneth volunteered and served the community in varying ways, from volunteering at nursing homes to volunteer work in the Office of a Miami-Dade County Commissioner, to working alongside his father to create the current corporate logos for both: “Brownsville Civic Neighborhood Association (BCNA)” and The “Georgia Jones-Ayers” Alternative Programs (TAP).

Among his many other talents, Kenneth was a Licensed Public Notary in the State of Florida, a singer/songwriter – and a pretty decent cook too. The short, but extraordinary, life of Kenneth M. Kilpatrick Jr., can best be summarized by his incomparable whit, his loving smile, courteousness, dedication and spirit of humility that will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Kenneth Jr. is survived by his mother: Tamla Holifield, his father: Kenneth Kilpatrick Sr. (Tonya), brothers: Kareem Kilpatrick and Maurice Parrish (step-brother), sisters: Karyn Kilpatrick and Marteia Burden (step-sister), grandparents: George W. Kilpatrick Jr. (paternal), Mable Holifield (maternal), uncles: Steven Kilpatrick, George Kilpatrick III, Dwight Holifield, aunts: Michelle Holifield, Lisa Holifield, cousins: Kiaundra, Tatiana, Jordon, Stephan, Marc Emmanuel, Brandi, Leonard, Moses and a host of grand-aunts, grand-uncles, cousins, family, friends, associates and co-workers.
