I met Ken back in 2008 when I first came to Texas as a Rotary Youth Exchange student. I still remember receiving that first email from him about coming to Texas and how excited I was for the new adventure. Ken and Elyn welcomed us with open arms like we were part of their family and really made our experience an amazing and memorable one. I had the honor of spending additional time with him and Elyn afterwards when I ended up going to Texas Tech.

Ken was always so joyful and always had a great attitude. He had such a big heart and was always giving back to his community. Thank you Ken for everything you have done! You have made such a significant impact in my life and was part of the reason why I wanted to stay in Texas longer. I hope I get to see you again one day.

I had the privilege of staying with Elyn and Ken for a whole year during my exchange student year in 2004-2005. They weren’t just my host parents…during that year, they were my mom and my dad, and it really felt that way. I don’t think I can remember one day that Ken did not show a big smile! He had the biggest heart, always helping others, infinite love for the Lord, for his wife and family. He was a great role model for me growing up and I learnt so many life lessons from him, but especially his devotion for helping other people, wether it was through meals on wheels or a rotarian activity, he was always doing something! He made it look like the most rewarding thing in the world and it really made an impact on my life. Thank you dad because you touched the lives of so many, including mine. A big hug all the way to heaven. I will see you again one day.

Ken was the greatest man I ever known and my Texan dad while on exchange in Lubbock in 1998. His friendliness, dedication to the good cause and active lifestyle was a great inspiration to me.

Ken and Elyn were truly my family and home while being away from home and I cannot be grateful enough for having the chance to know them.

With pain in my heart I say good bye to Ken but I know he was blessed in life and will continue to be where he is now.

2017
I've met Ken back in 2007 when he greeted me to Camp Davis orientation meeting for new Exchange Students (I was one of them). He and his wonderful wife Elyn has made this entire year a wholesome, once-in-a-life time experience. Great man, with so much to share and give! I'm sure you're in the best place their is now Ken, rest in peace!
Elyn and family, Ray and I send our love and hugs. Ken was an amazing, giving, loving, servant. I will always treasure his friendship. Heaven is loving his presence there and he is rejoicing with his Lord.  I’m so blessed to have known him.
