Tinker's obituary
Kenneth “Tinker” Esparza passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, laughter, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Ken was a hardworking and dedicated man who built a long and successful career first with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and later as an insurance salesman with New York Life, where he became a top producer for many years. He believed deeply in providing for his family and serving others with integrity and heart.
A proud native of Gallup, New Mexico, Ken was once a baseball standout in his youth — a hometown superstar with a rebellious streak and a love for rock ‘n’ roll. He pushed life to its limits and lived it fully, always with a story to tell and a clever, quippy saying ready to make those around him laugh.
Above all, Ken was a devoted father to his beloved sons, Emilio, Eric, and Ethen. He adored his boys and often told them that if he could live even half the life they were living, he would be a happy man. His pride in them was immeasurable.
He was absolutely in love with his grandchildren near and far — Isaiah & Evan (Las Vegas, NV) , Benjamin & Ellinor (Loten, Norway), and Matteo (Albuquerque, NM)— who brought endless joy to his heart. Nothing made him happier than time spent with them and reminiscing on photos of them.
Ken was a man of God with a faithful, generous heart. He loved driving to distant chapels around the Gallup area and throughout the surrounding reservation to pray and found peace in his faith. Even when he had little, he would give freely, often placing the needs of others before his own. His kindness knew no bounds.
He shared a special bond with his brothers, Brent and Randy, and treasured time working alongside Randy in the woods near Farmington. He spent countless hours laughing and hanging out with his father Eugene Pacheco. He was preceded in death by his mother, Corrine, and his birth father, Emilio.
Tinker had a heart of gold and a spirit that could not be contained. He will be remembered for his generosity, his humor, his deep love for family, and the big, faithful heart that defined his life.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
