In the prior year at the University of Wisconsin, I found myself the recipient of the Ken Sipsma scholarship award for non-traditional students and life-long learners. I wanted to say thank you to Ken, his family, and the lasting legacy his life had on those around him. The consideration is greatly appreciated and I hope to utilize my background to pay it forward to future generations.

Ken was a kind and generous classmate. Even though I did not know him well, he gifted me two books for school last year so that I wouldn't have to pay for them out of pocket. I don’t often rank my customers at the bar I manage, but Ken easily made his way to the top of my favorites in the last three years. Knowing he’s not here hurts for a lot of service industry folks. Personally I’d give anything for him to come in again on a Friday for another Diablo or a fancy mezcal. He made such an impression on me and my staff & I cannot imagine the pain of his absence felt by the people in his life that knew him more than my surface-ish perspective. Rest in peace Ken, I can tell you were loved by many ❤️
