Kelly always had a love for Thrift shopping. She loved going with her family as a child and continued going throughout her life. We were on our way to Lytton Springs Salvation Army Thrift, early one morning. We planned this trip a few days before. As we arrived, there were cars parked everywhere. It reminded us of Black Friday sales. In the distance we could see a lot of people gathered by the gate to get in. We made our way to the crowd as more people arrived. All of a sudden, an alarm sounds off and everyone runs as if it was a bombing. We look at each other, confused as we begin to laugh. We let the crowd go ahead of us as we make comments about the alarm and people. There are rows of tables underneath carports. On the tables were bins full of stuff. People were surrounding them, swarming. They were tossing things and grabbing things by the armful. Kelly and I were shocked at the mess these people were creating. I ask a security guard standing by, "is the stuff in those bins free?" He replies, "Nope." Kelly and I laugh as we make our way to the next sets of shops. This place was huge! It had tiny shops and carports everywhere! We find a few things to purchase and had a blast. We decided to stop by again on our way to Santa Rosa. As we arrived, there were a few cars here and there. We were stoked, it wasn't jam packed like the last time. We were so excited that there wasn't many people. We make our way to the carports in the front, by the gate. This is awesome! There is like no one here! We looked through a few bins then made our way to a bigger carport area with furniture underneath. There is a long row of pianos. We touch all the keys as we walk along to look at all the stuff. We go by the small Thrift shops and in-between them are carports. It's becoming a hot day. We see a table with a huge Gatorade jug and a stack of plastic cups. We comment about how this day was so nice, we have the whole place to ourselves, they even have water for us! How thoughtful! We drink our cups of water and refill our cups. We spot a beautiful piano right by the water station. It was hand painted with all colors, of flowers and butterflies, and swirls. We start playing the song off the movie "Big," Heart and Soul, as we laugh. We comment on how great we sound. We were so loud! Just as we were dancing as we played, two security guards come up to us. We apologize for being so loud and comment on how nice it was that there was water available and it wasn't so crowded. They look at us with a smirk. I look at Kelly and reply to the security guard, " the place is closed, isn't it" Kelly's jaw drops. We both apologize over and over as they walk us to the gate. We make comments to them, " there should be a huge sign that says when it's closed, and have it where you park, in red letters, and a white sign, we didn't see anything. " The guards tell us to have a nice day as we walk towards the parking lot. We are both laughing historically. As we get in the van and put our seat belts on we look up, and there in front of her van was a huge sign, with red letters, stating when the place was closed. We laughed so hard that tears were running down our faces.
