Kelly's obituary
Kelly Lynn Nash passed away on May 7, 2024. She was 38.
Kelly was born in Houston, Texas. Only a few weeks later, she took a transcontinental flight to Hong Kong, where she lived for two years. At the age of five she moved back to Houston, her home for the rest of her life.
Raised a Texas Longhorn, Kelly was proud to follow in the footsteps of her parents by attending the McCombs School of Business at University of Texas at Austin. She was a member of Tri Delta Sorority, where she built strong friendships she maintained her entire lifetime.
After graduating, Kelly joined Amegy Bank in 2008. She acted as an officer in the Special Assets, Commercial Banking, and Corporate Banking teams, before her current role as Senior Vice President Credit Risk Officer. She was beloved by her colleagues for her mentorship, her work with the Women’s Business Resource Group, and her creative contributions to “breakfast club.”
A dedicated fan of Longhorn football and Astros baseball, Kelly won a World Series ring in 2017 while working for Jim Crane, owner of the Houston Astros. She was renowned at Amegy for her legendary March Madness pool recaps, and for her enthusiastic leadership of the College Football Pick’em draft.
Kelly was immeasurably selfless, quietly generous, and loyal. She believed fiercely in the importance of a local community, and spent much of her life working to strengthen those ties in her family, friends, church, and city. Kelly was the first to volunteer for thankless, behind-the-scenes labor. Armed with a spreadsheet, she was peerless in her ability to organize baby showers, group trips, or fundraisers.
Kelly valued quality time with friends and family above all else. She was a proud and devoted aunt, taking a significant role in the day-to-day lives of her nephew Logan and niece Ellie. She inherited an intelligent wit from her father, but was never above a cheesy pun. Her strongly-held, idiosyncratic opinions were a source of endless debate and laughter. She was a voracious solver of jigsaw puzzles and brain teasers, and was immensely (and loudly) proud of her Wordle streak. Her brilliance, integrity, and steadfast friendship will be missed.
Kelly is survived by her mother Gail, her brother Lee (and his wife Breann), her sister Laura (and her husband Justin), and her beloved nephew and niece, Logan and Ellie.
A service will be held Monday, May 13 at 3:00 at Grace Bible Church (6325 Hurst Street, Houston TX 77008), where Kelly was a dedicated member and volunteer. Reception to follow. Memorial gifts may be made to Red Collar Rescue, where Kelly adopted her beloved dog Lucy: https://redcollar.org/
