Kelly's obituary
Kelly Irby, née Brackney Howard, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 63. Born on June 30, 1962, in Kankakee, Illinois, Kelly lived a life defined by strength, love, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Kelly was the beloved wife of Robert Scott Irby and a devoted mother to her children Jayson Wright and Caroline Wright. She also embraced her role as stepmother to Samantha Comer and Jessica Polk. Her heart carried the memory of her son Andrew Wright and stepson Adam Irby, both of whom preceded her in death. Kelly had 19 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way.
Family was the cornerstone of Kelly’s life. She was a cherished sister to Kevin Brackney, Kimberly Huth, Kathryn Eads, and Kristine Ferguson. She held close the memory of her parents Albert and Patricia Howard and Clarence Brackney Jr., who passed before her.
Kelly found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved cooking meals that brought people together around the table and spent countless hours crocheting beautiful pieces with care. Her creativity extended to painting and reading—activities that reflected her thoughtful spirit. Whether it was a quiet evening with a good book or a lively game of cards with family members gathered around, Kelly treasured every moment shared with those she loved.
Above all else, Kelly was known for her fierce love for her family. She was a strong woman whose nurturing presence extended beyond her immediate circle—she was a loving mother figure to many. Her warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
May Kelly’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
