Personal note from Carly

My Dad passed unexpectedly. He recently had hip surgery, which he was recovering well from. The pulmonary embolism came from out of the blue. He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren. I would like to share a poem he loved and an additional writing he referenced often.

Mother Teresa's Anyway Poem
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

This writing was also above his desk for years:
"Life"
*My life has been spent in the quest for soul love. Happiness. Satiation. Running on the edge. Looking and acting like the rest. Never becoming one of them. Never becoming one with them. Testing, always testing, and tested. Everyone else wants it to be their way and my always having to have the strength to do it the right way. Always seeking the best it could be, but never willing to hurt others to get it. And yet, always hurting others because of expecting to them to try as hard. Strive for that which isn't. Life brings joy and pain and laughter and happiness and disappointment, often at the same time. I ache to be better. To make it better. To leave the world better somehow. To be remembered. Through it all, the kids. In good times and in bad times, I'm the one who carries the load. Faces the task. Somehow it always ended up being about something else with the women I've loved. Money. Themselves. I expect too much. I'm too demanding. I only ask what I give. A romantic? Always. Glossing over imperfections. Seeing what I want to see.
You ask, do I dare to dream of meeting my hearts longing. I've been searching for that, it seems, forever. As far as risking looking like a fool for love. Always. Life is the adventure. Those who settle for less, sit at home in front of the TV, accept mediocrity, never push the edge, get what they ask for.
No matter how good or bad it is, there's always the next day and no one knows what it will bring. All you can know is that you have a new chance to shape it and the world and the life around you. Always build on the cores. Truth. Family. Integrity, Happiness. Sharing with someone. A rose every day for the one you love. Never quit. Always smile. Love life. Never let them see you sweat. Never let them compromise you.*

Thank you so much to everyone visiting this page. We will miss Kelly tremendously and would love to have you share your favorite memories of him on this website. I love you, dad. Give them hell for me.
