I remember when I was about 4 years old, I packed my suitcase and ran away to be with Kelly. She was my babysitter, and I loved her. The Eppards were dear friends of ours for years, and they were there to support us when we lost Dad and again when we lost my sister, Lesley Yaley, just 7 months ago. My heart and prayers are with you all!
Mrs. Duncan introduced me (and so many others) to the world of art and creativity. She started my love of art in elementary school which then inspired me to study art history while in college. Now I get to work with historical art pieces up close for work and talk like I know a thing or two. I owe it all to Mrs. Duncan helping me grow my little world as a child beyond her classroom walls.
My sincere sympathies in the loss of your sweet Kelly. I taught with Kelly at Lincoln and Franklin in Boone. She was always sweet and kind to all of her students and a very talented teacher. My fourth graders were always excited to go to art. She definitely had a positive impact on so many young lives. May God give you courage and strength and comfort.

I had lost touch with Kelly since my retirement, but somehow our paths crossed at a Doobie Brothers concert last year. Time had not changed the kind and glowing spirit that embodied her as a teacher and colleague during our time together in Boone!  Kelly’s personality was infectious and her passion for encouraging her students was evident in all that she did in the classroom. As a staff member, Kelly was the epitome of a team player and she would never shy away from added responsibilities when asked. I hope you will find comfort in the tributes that others share and strength in the faith that she had in her Lord. Heaven is celebrating Kelly’s arrival!!! PTL!!!!
Kelly was such a sweet woman and I enjoyed getting to know her.  Our thoughts and prayers with Alan and family.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Kelly.  I taught with her at Franklin Elementary in Boone for many years.  She was always such a cheery, positive person.  I know she loved teaching art to her students.  You have my sincerest condolences.

Jill Caruth

I was so surprised to hear of Kelly's passing. You have my deepest condolences in the passing of Kelly. She always greeted my third graders at Franklin with a smile and a great positive attitude that they were going to have a super time creating Art in her classroom. She was a super Art teacher who did so many creative projects with our students. Many students on the way out the door had to be sure and get their hug from Mrs. Duncan. She inspired so many of her students to continue to be creative outside of her class. I so enjoyed working with her. May your family's happy memories with Kelly bring you comfort in the days ahead. I know we are going to see some spectacular sunrises and sunsets with her now helping to paint God's pallet in the sky.

All the teaching memories we shared, all the flag projects and Fine Arts concerts we did together. And all of the piano lesson collaboration we discussed. It’s all such great memories of Kelly, RIP my friend. May her family find peace in all the wonderful memories.

Kelly-Alan Duncan
