It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kelly "Cowbel" VanDervort on May 2, 2023. Born on June 10, 1960, Kelly was a compassionate and vibrant spirit who brought joy and love to those around her. While she was affectionately known as Cowbel, she preferred the name Kelly.
Kelly is survived by her brother Michael VanDervort and her sister Patricia (Dennis) Gualdoni, Nephews, Bryan (Nicole) VanDervort, Ian Gualdoni, Eric VanDervort and Casey VanDervort, as well as her favorite niece Jennifer (Billy) Wolt , several step children, great nieces and nephews, and step grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Kelly is predeceased in death by her parents, Clifford and MaryLou(Gaiser) VanDervort, and her brother, Kevin VanDervort. She is survived by friends who cherished her warm presence and support.
Kelly had several jobs during her lifetime, starting off as a waitress in her teens. In 1993 Kelly began her career with the Wood Lane-Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities, as a job coach. In January of 1998 Kelly was offered the position of Food Service Supervisor, at Wood Lane School, where she stayed until June of 2013. Kelly's love of food and service made this the perfect job. Her Thanksgiving lunch was known county wide.
Kelly's many loves included food, friends, family, golf, travel and dogs. You could not stop by Kelly's house without being offered something to eat or drink. Being at the beach, on a boat or next to a pool, were Kelly's happy places. Kelly also loved her house and people loved to gather there. Rarely was Kelly seen without her dog. She had many over her lifetime, her favorite being the one she had at the time.
Among Kelly's many accomplishments were her participation in two sixty-mile, three-day walks for breast cancer awareness and fundraising. Her dedication to this cause showcased her enduring commitment to helping others and making a positive impact on the world around her.
As we mourn the loss of Kelly, let us celebrate her life and honor her memory by continuing her legacy of love, kindness, and determination to make a difference. She will forever remain in our hearts and memories, and her spirit will live on through the lives she touched.
