Keithen's obituary
Keithen Simes, born January 14, 1972, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 53.
Keithen was a man who lived life with energy, laughter, and absolutely no filter — and that’s exactly how everyone who knew him loved him. He was the son of the late Vegure and James Simes, and was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn.
Keithen spent many years managing The Holiday Inn, where he was known for keeping things running smoothly and keeping everyone on their toes. Outside of work, he was an avid car collector — if it had an engine and a story, Keithen wanted to hear it (and probably drive it).
On September 13, 1999, Keithen married the love of his life, Evelyn Rodgers, who stood by his side through every joy, challenge, and spontaneous car purchase. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and more than a few loud opinions.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Evelyn Rodgers Simes; his sister-in-law, whom he proudly raised like a daughter, Danielle Rodgers; his siblings, Anthony (Susan), Christopher (Sophia), Kendra (Les) Morrison, and Kewan (Anthony) Jackson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Keithen was devoted to his family and never missed an important event — whether it was a birthday, graduation, or cookout. He loved a good party, spoke his mind freely (sometimes a little too freely), and had a humor that could light up any room.
Keithen’s legacy is one of honesty, loyalty, and laughter. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and probably still heard in spirit reminding us all to “just say what you mean.”
