Keith's obituary

Keith Lyle Kiecker passed suddenly on June 24th, 2021. Keith was born on April 29,1977 in St Cloud, MN. Keith is survived by his parents Lyle and Cheryl Kiecker, sisters Kelly and husband Matthew Ward, Dana and husband Bruce Illies, nieces Katherine and husband Nick Kes, Avery Ward, Kieren Illies and nephews Brody Illies, Gannon and Hudson Ward. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends Stefanie Sokup, Nathan Windom, Jay Miller, Ross Hoaglund and many more supportive friends.
Keith was a wonderful man with a kind heart and giving spirit. He loved every aspect of the game of soccer from playing too coaching. Keith started playing soccer as a little boy in St Cloud and when the family moved to Apple Valley in 1986 he continued to play the game on traveling teams all the way through High School and was even able to travel to Europe with his team. He graduated in 1995 from Apple Valley High School. He continued with his passion for soccer by playing in college at the University of Louisville. He graduated from the University of Louisville in 1999 where he studied Urban and Regional Planning. He moved to California after he graduated. There he began his career and continued to play and coach soccer. He especially loved mentoring youth soccer players. When he came back to Minnesota he was able to be the first head coach for the Minneapolis City Soccer Club. He also felt fortunate to work in the affordable housing industry for so many years. He did amazing work across the country in this industry. Keith will be greatly missed by his family, friends and soccer community. In his memory donations are appreciated to one of the foundations that were so important in Keith’s life.
