K.E. Joe's obituary

Kenneth Eugene (Joe) Reed, 76, died of congestive heart failure on February 11, 2019 surrounded by his children in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Joe was born to Wilfred and Irene (Heyer) Reed in Estherville, Iowa January 9, 1943. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the Army from 1964-1967. Joe lived in Des Moines for almost 40 years raising three children through the Urbandale School District and retired from John Deere Credit.
Joe enjoyed life and could always be seen with a smile on his face. When asked how he was doing, he wasn’t just good, he was “good, good, good.” He loved sports and could be heard on the sidelines cheering, “Go Blue!” When not at a sporting event, Joe could be found at the YMCA or sharing stories and laughter with friends. His biggest priorities were his family and church. He enjoyed hosting Alpha class at Hope and helping people learn about Jesus. He wanted to be sure that Heaven was getting fuller.
Dad would say it was a good day because his feet hit the floor, but we know it’s a better day because he is dancing in Heaven.
Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sondra, his parents, his brother, Billy, and his sister Kathryn. He is survived by his children Tim, Wendy, and Matthew (Jackie) Reed and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was a loving father, husband, grandpa and friend to everyone.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 22, at the chapel at Lutheran Church of Hope on Jordan Creek Pkwy in West Des Moines. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 am with a luncheon in the Well following the service. The burial will be at Glendale Cemetery at 2:00.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made in memory of Joepa
