Kayten's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Kayten Askimar on April 24, 2025, in Gilbert, AZ. Born on September 29, 1966, in Chicago, IL, Kayten was a compassionate soul who touched the lives of many through his kindness and gentle spirit.

Kayten was the proud husband of Pola Askimar for 18 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and memorable moments. Family meant the world to him, and he is survived by his loving parents, Stuart Ivener and Blossom Osofsky, his mother-in-law Sylvia Coronado, his siblings Korin Forbes (Ray) and Brian Ivener, his niece Emily Goldfarb (Todd) and nephew Jacob Forbes, as well as many extended family members.

Kayten's professional journey was marked by determination and dedication. He began his career after earning his degree from the Bryman School, becoming an X-ray and lab technician. His passion for the culinary arts led him to the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Scottsdale, where he honed his skills as a sous chef. His culinary career flourished at T Cook Restaurant in the Royal Palms Resort from 2005 to 2021, and most recently, he brought joy to patrons at Morenci Restaurant until his passing. He embraced every role with enthusiasm and dedication, leaving a mark on both his colleagues and customers.

Known for being kind, funny, and incredibly loyal, Kayten had a way of making everyone feel special. His soft-spoken demeanor and quiet leadership inspired those around him. He loved exploring the outdoors, watching cooking shows, hitting up the latest movies, and enjoying the thrills of playing video games. Bird watching also brought him immense joy, showcasing his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Kayten's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, an organization that provided comfort and care during his final days.

While we are heartbroken by his passing, we also celebrate the vibrant and generous life he led. He will be missed terribly but remembered fondly for his warmth and caring nature.

Details regarding services honoring Kayten can be found in the events tab on this site.  No RSVP is needed for the Memorial Service on May 17th, but we would like RSVP’s for The Celebration of Life on May 25th. PLEASE RSVP IN THE EVENTS TAB ON THIS SITE, OR TO KORIN FORBES (480-215-0823) BY MAY 19th.
