Kaylob's obituary
Kaylob Engstrom was born in Fairfax, Virginia on November 27, 1997, to Erik and Jennifer. From an early age, Kaylob brought energy, humor, and a competitive spirit to everything he did. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys—much to the good‑natured frustration of many in his family—and he loved sports, especially basketball and football.
Kaylob excelled in athletics and could often be found outside shooting hoops for hours. His talent on the court was undeniable—he could sink a three‑pointer from half court—but what stood out even more was his love of competition and his determination to always give his best. Kaylob had a way of leading by example, showing others both how to do things right and, on occasion, what not to do, often with a smile and a story to go with it. Kaylob attended Osbourn Park high school and graduated from Patriot High School. He then furthered his education at Old Dominion University.
Some of Kaylob’s happiest memories were made with his family. He loved spending time at the lake, taking beach trips with his cousins, and fishing together whenever the opportunity arose. Those cousin beach trips became some of his most cherished traditions growing up. At home, Kaylob also enjoyed cooking with his little brother Liam, and the two especially loved making spaghetti together.
Kaylob held a special place in his heart for his grandparents and treasured the time he spent with them. His Nana was especially dear to him, and their bond was one he carried proudly throughout his life.
Kaylob is survived by his parents, Jennifer and Michael Durniak, and Erik and Melissa Engstrom; his siblings Hunter, Cailyn, Liam, Emma, and Donald; and his grandparents John and Margaret Engstrom and Penny and Ronnie Durniak. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles Beth and Sam Collingwood, Stanley and Jillian Carmical, Lindsey Durniak, Chris Engstrom, and Jennifer Engstrom; as well as many cousins: Sammy, Will, Lucas, Devan, Kane, Drew, Brady C., Molly, Cole C., Eloise, Brooke, Christian, Cole G., Grace, and Brady E.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Stanley and Donna Carmical and his cousin Declan Carmical.
