Kay's obituary
Kay Lorraine Van Antwerp
August 4, 1940 – December 3, 2024
Kay Lorain Van Antwerp, 84, passed away on December 3, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 4, 1940, Kay dedicated her life to caring for others with a heart full of kindness and generosity.
From a young age, Kay took on the role of caretaker, sacrificing her own education to raise and nurture her siblings. She was a mother not only to her own family but to anyone who needed one—her home and heart were always open.
Kay was a devoted wife to Carl Van Antwerp for 47 years. Their marriage was built on love, deep companionship, and unwavering devotion. Carl cherished her beyond words. They spent much of their life traveling, and she graciously participated in Carl’s NASCAR obsession. The couple attended many races together, even getting married on the beach in Virginia during one of their trips. Carl fondly referred to that day as their “real” wedding—the only date he truly remembered—though they later held an official ceremony. Kay also enjoyed collecting and traveling for Beanie Babies. While they each had their own hobbies, they cherished the time spent together.
Kay was a loving mother to her daughter, Vickie Thomas, and an adoring grandmother to Summer Bilyk and Tyler Seczawa. She found immense joy in her role as a great-grandmother to Paxton, Isiah, and Mani, never missing an opportunity to shower them with love and affection.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Barbara Rabb; her mother, Florence Van Dommelen; and her father, Alexander Rabb. She is survived by her husband, Carl; her sister, Linda Brown; and her brother, Michael Yoder.
Kay’s kindness and generosity knew no bounds. She spent her later years doting on her grandchildren, ensuring every child around her felt loved, cared for, and provided for. She had a heart too big for this world—always giving, always loving.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, selflessness, and unwavering compassion. She was deeply cherished and will be profoundly missed.
