Kay's obituary

Kay Lee Finch, a beloved father, grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away on December 10, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on April 22, 1945, in Ames, Iowa, Kay proudly served in the U.S. Navy from December 3, 1963, to February 18, 1972, achieving the rank of ET1. After his military service, he devoted his career to government work as a federal employee, where he made many lasting contributions.

Kay had a gift for storytelling, and he delighted family and friends with tales full of humor, wisdom, and sometimes just a touch of mischief. His love of cooking and entertaining brought everyone together, filling the house with laughter, warmth, and cherished memories. He was a loving and supportive father to his daughters, Amy Chapman and Anne Johnston, and a proud grandfather to Robby, Molly, Ben, and Saylor.

Kay is also survived by his sister, Suzy Anderson. He was preceded in death by Ben Finch and Marcia Finch.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Kay's life at a later date in Kelley, Iowa, and his cremated remains will be laid to rest privately at a time to be announced.

Kay's spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the stories he shared and the lives he touched.
