Kathy's obituary
It is with sadness and deep appreciation that we announce the passing of Kathy Jean Tyler of St. Charles, MO. In a testament to the determination Kathy was always known for, she fought her pancreatic cancer just long enough to reach her 70th birthday before passing peacefully, surrounded by family and music.
Kathy was born in Kansas City on January 5th, 1952 to Richard and Norma (née Farmer) Hedrick.. one of five children in a small house in Raytown. In 1971, she married her neighborhood sweetheart, Billy Tyler before moving to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1977 to raise a family (along with chickens, goats, rabbits, and an assortment of other animals on a hobby farm she adored).
She had two sons, Justin and Josh, to whom she devoted her entire self.
Kathy owned and operated the Culligan Water dealership in Camdenton, MO before relocating to St Charles in 2010 to be closer to her grandchildren and to open and operate Floyd Glass & Window with her sons.
Throughout her battle with cancer, Kathy continued to make time for her 4 grandchildren and persisted with her duties in the business. Workspaces were set up in more than one hospital setting.
Kathy was predeceased by her Mother, Norma; Father, Richard; and Sister, Connie Ferlingere. She is survived by her two sons: Justin and Josh Tyler; 4 grandchildren: Norah, Dean, Jackson and Harrison Tyler; 3 Siblings: Vickie Simmons, Penny Ruth and Michael Hedrick; and a host of nieces, nephews and their children in an ever-growing family that loved her dearly.
Kathy’s bravery, strength, self-reliance, and drive have been an inspiration to friends, family, and the many people she has encountered as the owner of multiple businesses.
In lieu of flowers, Please consider a donation in Kathy’s name to The Music Health Alliance, as music was important to her. Services will be held on Saturday January 15th, from 5-6 at Pheasant Run Golf Course followed by an open house from 6-10.
