About Kathy:
She was a shop till you drop kinda gal, but once her knee started acting up too much- online shopping became her muse! Do you like blueberry pancakes? Because if she knew you did- you were getting some shipped to ya for Christmas! Do you like cheese curds? Yup! You're getting a shipment of Wisconsin cheese curds! Do you love Christmas AND history? Great! You're getting presidential ornaments delivered! She sent my boys and me endless shipments, because she saw stuff that made her think of us and what we enjoyed.
She loved fast cars and had various models of chevys throughout her life, we custom ordered her last car together! Did it have T- tops? Yes it did! Did we race that camaro a few times down Pioneer blvd? Yes, we did!
When her parents fell ill, she took care of them. She held her father's hand as he took his last breath in March of 2003. She honored his wishes with grace. I have not been afforded the same opportunity.
She retired from Kimberly Clark, Lovefield after working there for over twenty years. She enjoyed taking her nieces to work with her in the summer time when they were younger. I remember many Saturdays where she would let me play on a computer at her work, while I watched planes coming and going from Lovefield airport.
Kathy enjoyed traveling, sometimes to visit family and sometimes just for leisure. She instilled a love of history within me that has been passed down to my sons. She showed me so much of the country and told me about her other travels. Charleston was one of my most favorite trips with her and I've returned there with my younger sister because of Aunt Kathy.
Kathy was a Devout Christian that paid her tithes regularly. She was a member of the Assembly of God church, where she sometimes attended three times a week when she was more capable. Kathy loved and worshipped God all of her life. Even attending a Baptist college.
Kathy was a respected member of the DAR and was proud of our heritage and the history of our Shifflett name. We have chronicled Shiffletts involvement dating back to the American Revolutionary War.
