Kathy's obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kathy Sawyer, a beacon of kindness and love in our lives. Born on May 13, 1957, our “Momma and Nanny” left us too soon on December 10, 2023.
Our Mom was a truly incredible woman, known for her kindness, having a big heart, her caring nature and having a unique ability to hug your worries away. She was not just a mother to her own Son and Daughter, Aaron and Melisa Sawyer, she was a mother figure to all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her. Our Mom was a constant figure of love and support, always turning up when people needed her most. She never failed at showing up for her loved ones.
Her heart was an ocean of love and generosity, touching everyone she met. Our Mom’s legacy lies in the love she shared and the lessons she imparted. She was the best Mom and Nanny we could ever dream of. She taught us how to love unconditionally, to always be kind, she was an example of patience and to have a forgiving soul. She was dedicated, loyal, a times stubborn, but as gentle of a soul and as strong and resilient of anyone we knew.
Kathy could be seen in her tie-dye shirts or wearing her Duck and her Razorback apparel as she sat by the pool with her grandkids, or with her boyfriend enjoying brunch or watching a game. Our Mom wasn’t the best photographer and we joked about this constantly, but she enjoyed playing the “penny slots” and video lottery games. She loved singing with her grandkids while they followed along on her phone.
We fondly remember Kathy as “Momma” and even more so as "Nanny", a term of endearment used by her grandchildren that was soon adopted by many who knew her. She had a special way of showing love to all, often endearingly addressing people as "honey", "hon", or "sweetie". She treated everyone with the same tender care, and her love knew no bounds.
Our Mom was exceedingly proud of her family, which included her two children and seven grandchildren. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the home she shared with her beloved boyfriend.
Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her loving spirit will continue to live on through the countless people she has touched. We will forever remember her as the wonderful "Nanny" she was to many and the personification of love and kindness.
