Kathy always had unlimited passion for the young swimmers she represented. To balance encouragement of pursuing pure excellence AND do it in a way that makes a better human— this was Kathy’s superpower!
The best days were when I had taken my first head coaching job at Dynamo and Pat Hogan had left for SwimMAC… Kathy and I had to figure out how to “run” this huge swimming machine! She was always the steady hand that navigated us to be the consistent club that achieved amazing results. We would send hours and hours at El Pinto - the local joint near the pool in Chamblee to discuss kids and their needs.
May God bless Kathy and her family. I know I was blessed having her as a friend and peer.

Heaven gained a strong and spirited soul while the world lost a dedicated coach, teacher and mentor, but most of all a friend.
Thank you for your strength, your conviction and for keeping resolute for so many years.
May you go now to your final rest in peace, knowing that you have done right with your time on this earth...you fought the good fight...you finished the race...
May God, keep you close and wrapped in His grace and love on your next journey.

I had the honor and privilege to train one summer and a Holiday break between college semesters with the Dynamos, a Team with a deep, rich history of not only developing and producing great swimmers but modeling and mentoring student athletes into productive and successful champions in all aspects of life. The Dynamo’s success comes from a long line of outstanding, dedicated, and passionate coaches throughout the decades.
Age Group coaching is a Special Calling for those who possess and teach us such invaluable lessons and traits that we carry with us throughout our lifetime: dedication, perseverance, good sportsmanship, commitment to and passion for excellence, self-discipline, mental toughness, competitive drive, and overall teamwork and camaraderie. One never forgets their first Age Group Coach - the first Adult Mentor trusted by our parents and loved ones to teach and mold us into productive citizens.
Although I swam with the senior group at the Dynamos at that time, Coach Kathy, a True Blue University of North Carolina Tarheel, and I, a True Blue University of Kentucky Wildcat, would unmercifully banter each other during basketball season as to who will win the much anticipated UNC v. UK basketball game. Coach Kathy was very well respected in her profession and dedicated her lifetime career to her age group swimmers and in the sport of competitive swimming, in such a giving, loving, and caring manner. Coach Kathy’s God-given talent has touched and blessed so many peoples’ Heart & Soul in so many grand and positive ways that we will carry throughout our Earthly Lives. Coach Kathy will always be remembered and will hold a special place in our Heart.
