Kathy's obituary

Kathy Norene Kurz

December 9, 1962 – December 24, 2025

Obituary Kathy Kurz, 63, of Raytown, MO, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital on December 24, 2025, following a short but intense battle with an aggressive cancer.

Born in Kansas City, MO, to Norman and Jackie Kurz, Kathy was the eldest of three siblings. She graduated from Raytown South High School and attended Baker University. Kathy dedicated 33 years to the Internal Revenue Service, rising from a Data Transcriber to Department Manager, and occasionally serving as Operations Manager for the Kansas City campus. She was a passionate advocate for the Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and disabled communities, ensuring all were recognized for their qualifications.

Family was Kathy’s priority. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Brittany, and a supportive sister and mentor to her brothers. She shared a love for travel, shopping, and crafting with her mother and was the "apple of her father’s eye." A lifelong resident of Raytown, Kathy was a stalwart friend known for organizing group experiences and supporting friends' endeavors. Her love of the outdoors and service was reflected in her years with the Camp Fire Girls, as a Girl Scout leader of Troop 2043, and as a softball coach for the Osborne team in the Raytown Softball League.

Kathy will be remembered for her resilience in the face of rheumatoid arthritis and her generous spirit, often expressed through her baking and crafting.
