Kathy's obituary
Kathy Chapman, a fierce yet compassionate force, was born on July 21, 1955, and passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 24, 2023. A woman of strong will and sassy charisma, her love seeped into every corner of her life, touching those fortunate enough to be part of her journey.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Jody Gibson (Chapman); her son, Joshua Chapman; her son-in-law, Robert Gibson; and her daughter-in-law, Joy Chapman. She was a beloved Nana to Chase, Christian, and Caden Chapman. She is also survived by her siblings Billie Neese, Bo Prescott, Jeff McGee, Debi Badeaux, and Susie Prescott. She is predeceased by her mother, Francis Prescott, and her sister, Barbara (Jeanne) Alsbury.
As someone who treasured the simpler pleasures of life, Kathy was a connoisseur of Shrimp Tacos and Mussels in garlic wine sauce, and one would often find her enjoying a Coke with lots of ice, or on the rare occasion indulging in a Chocolate Martini. She was an ardent fan of HGTV and strived to have the perfect and cozy home inspired by some of her favorite shows. She loved watching movies, with her favorite films being "Gone with the Wind" and "It's A Wonderful Life".
When not savoring her favorite meals or movies, Kathy was often found working in her yard and was very proud of her welcoming front porch and would invite you to sit and gossip with her. Her vacation spots of choice were Marco Island, Florida; Eleuthera, Bahamas; or anywhere fun with her family and grandkids.
She was a beacon of strength and love for her family, a woman who was much loved and whose generous spirit will continue to influence and inspire those she has left behind. Despite her tough exterior, Kathy was a compassionate and loving woman. She was strong and resilient, yet always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
She navigated through life with unwavering resolve, leaving in her wake a trail of memories that her loved ones will forever cherish. Her legacy of kindness stands as a testament to her beautiful spirit. The world is a bit dimmer without her, yet Kathy's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
