Kathy's obituary
Kathryn “Kathy” Holland (Reid) Senko of Sherwood, AR, peacefully departed this life on the morning of Monday, May 29, 2023, at St David’s Round Rock Medical Center in Round Rock, TX. She was the youngest of three born to the late Everett and Mary Fern Reid on October 20, 1948, in Stuttgart, AR.
As a child Kathy participated in 4H and discovered a love for music at an early age; she learned the piano, played clarinet throughout her high school years in the Stuttgart Marching Band, and was an accomplished vocalist. She participated in multiple vocal competitions all over the state and was often asked to sing at weddings, funerals, churches, and various other local and state-wide events. She truly had a beautiful voice.
Kathy graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1966 and went on to attend Hendrix College in Conway, AR where she studied music. She moved to Houston, TX in her early twenties and studied at Rice University while working as a buyer at Houston Methodist Hospital before returning to Stuttgart.
Kathy relocated her family to the East Texas College town of Nacogdoches in 1987. She quickly became friends with her neighbors and people in the community as Kathy never met a stranger. She was the PTA Vice President (fundraising) at Raguet Elementary where her youngest daughter attended, “room mom” for many years, and her children’s personal chauffeur as she liked to joke. She was a realtor with Charles Pool Real Estate then transitioned into property management while working with the late Dr. Loma Laird on a hotel-to-student housing conversion. Kathy was the manager of (then) Austin Place for 3 years before moving to Austin, TX.
While in Austin, Kathy continued her career in property management and real estate managing several properties throughout the city. After a short stint of living in Dallas, Texas while her father was ill, she returned to Austin where she became the Parish Administrator for St James Episcopal Church where she also attended.
In 2000 she reconnected with her lifelong friend the late Gary Senko of Stuttgart and in 2001 the couple married at Subiaco Abbey in Subiaco, AR, the couple relocated to Conway, AR in early 2022. Kathy was a realtor at Coldwell Banker Advantage Realty in Conway while also overseeing the initial lease-up of a new-multi housing community that included an onsite daycare facility. In 2005 while attending a local Bridal Expo with her daughter, Kathy joked that she could “do this and better” and she did just that! Kathy started her own wedding expo company CYD Productions which produced wedding show expos throughout Arkansas including Conway, Little Rock, Jacksonville, Hot Springs, and Stuttgart.
Once retired she relocated to Sherwood, AR dividing her time between Arkansas and Austin, TX. Kathy loved to read, garden, craft, do DIY projects, and spend time with her children, grandchildren, and those she loved.
Her last moments on Earth were filled with hope, memories, faith, family, and love. Her children know she is now in Heaven dancing and singing with her dear friends and family that have long passed and she is now reunited with her beloved parents, grandsons, and sister.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Eugenia Reid, and two grandsons James Piña and Demarian Rice.
Kathy is survived by a brother Stephen Reid of Plano, TX; her children, Matthew Reid (Consuelo) of Austin, TX, Richard Reid (Sarah) of Raton, NM, David Womack (Lauren) of Chelsea, AL, Katie Womack of Columbus, GA, and Elizabeth Piña (Domonique Rice) of Sherwood, AR; grandchildren Brenden, Domonique Jr, Tavin, Riley, Destany, Jordan, Skyler, Sofia, Isla, Lincoln, Hadley, and a bonus grandson Rashaud Bones as well as a host of additional family and dear friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Stuttgart, AR on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 1 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Shiloh Cemetery in Crocketts Bluff, AR. A reception is to follow at the St. Alban’s Parish Hall where all can gather to share stories and memories of her beautiful life.
