Our boys played football & baseball together Katie was the best cheerleader our teams could have

Loved her & her great kids

In 2001 our 18 month old grandson passed away. Katie presented us with a Little Gem Magnolia tree to plant in memory of him. Michael created a beautiful metal sign with his name"Kolyn" in cursive. We created a Memory Garden especially for this tree and placed the sign there.  Katie would stop many times when she passed by when I was out front and share with me that she looks at that tree as she goes by and remembers Kolyn. I am going to miss those times with her.

Remembrances are my treasures. Katie's massive kitchen table! Cabinet surfaces covered by the ingredients to fry chicken and frybread to feed whomever ventured in on a Saturday afternoon. No prisoners, we were most willing.  Katie's generosity fed and clothed many of us over our years.

Katie's priority was always her Family. We might head out for an evening but not before the kids were bedded down and all accounted for, AND,  she had donned her white cowgirl boots with the fringe. She was a forever jeans and boots kid. Sometimes Katie would just pop in at my home and we'd start to reminence about our great good times! There were quite a few. One silly thing, though, I'd drink almost anything, but once in a while treat myself to unblended Scotch.  Katie thought it tasted like water from the horse trough so I'd better have a Coke for her to mix with.

There are so many memories that are flooding back. Katie and I did have LOTS of conversations on the phone after I moved to Oregon. We relived good times and sad. Gonna miss our talks, but I still keep my eyes out for those white boots with the fringe.  We could start  building an altar!

RIP Katie, friend, neighbor.. I'll miss our conversations & laughs. You were a good friend &  pet care giver. I imagine you are caring for pets in heaven. Whatever happened to the rooster on the leash down the street lol!!
