Kathryn's obituary
We regretfully announce the passing of Kathryn Jean Huskey (Uselton) Livengood, age 72 of Crescent, OK on the evening of February 21, 2023, after a lengthy battle with liver complications & cancer. Kathryn was surrounded by her son Michael & wife Nikki as she passed away peacefully in their home, just one day after her birthday.
Kathryn, a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, wife, and mother to two sons, was brought into this world on February 20, 1951, to Damon Huskey and Dorothy (Howard) Huskey in Oklahoma City. Kathryn began her motherhood at the tender young age of 16, wedding Darrel Wayne Uselton in 1966, and giving birth to Darrel Thomas Uselton in early 1967. They welcomed her second son Michael Leon Uselton 6 years later in 1973. Kathryn poured herself into her family and life, first in Guthrie for several years, then on a farm in Deer Creek, Oklahoma throughout the late 1970s & 1980s, where she also spent a number of years working for Walmart, farrowing 1000's of piglets and raising her two boys. Kathryn was preceded in death by her first husband Darrel Wayne in 1994, after which time she settled in El Reno, OK for a few years, completing there not only her high school GED, but an Associate's Degree while working for a local farmer for several years more. Kathryn moved for a few years to Enid near her mother Dorothy, where the two became inseparable.
Kathryn eventually met Gary Livengood of Oklahoma City and they married around 1998, settling in Twin Lakes area near Crescent for over 20 years. Gary also proceeded her in death in March 2020. Kathryn spent most of her life in the care of others as the truly selfless & giving person that she was. She spent several years caring for her father Damon Huskey (d.2010) and wife Maria until their deaths, and later her dear mother Dorothy until her death in 2014, who she has sorely missed since.
Kathryn is survived by her only brother Terry Huskey of Enid, two sons Darrel & his wife Lorena of Houston and Michael & his wife Nikki of Crescent, whom she lived with in her final months. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Krystal (& Justin) Quinn, Chad (& Martha) Uselton, Amanda (& Josh) Oge, James Uselton, Giselle Uselton and Darcy Uselton, as well as 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
We wouldn't remember Kathryn fully without mentioning her fur baby family too. Her beloved mare, Stimer, spent nearly 30 years under the loving care & stewardship of Kathryn, and her love for horses never diminished. Ms. Tootsie, Kathryn & Darrel Wayne's Schnauzer, became an integral part of Kathryn's family & dearest companion for many years after Darrel passed, until Tootsie passed herself several years back. Kathryn adored a cadre of Dachshunds in her final years. She is survived only by her last and final companion Peanut, who will gratefully be continuing his life with son Mike & Nikki.
Kathryn lived her entire life as a child of the Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ and attended Methodist and Independent Christian Churches throughout her life. She was strong in her belief of everlasting salvation through her faith, and we praise God that she suffers no more and walks in paradise with those loved ones who proceeded her there.
There will be a public visitation & family gathering for her at Smith Gallo Funeral Home in Guthrie Oklahoma on Saturday, February 25 from 1pm to 6pm, and burial services in Waurika, Oklahoma (Waurika Cemetary) on Monday the 27th at 1pm, where she will be laid to rest beside her loving mother Dorothy Howard-Saunders, as her wishes requested.
