Kathryn's obituary

Kathryn Lynn Hess departed her family and friends on February 1, 2023 at the age of 67. Kathy battled with renal failure for a number of years and is finally at rest. She was born on June 8, 1955, to Leo Gerald and Carleen Kidd in Flint, Michigan. She was the first of six children in the Kidd family. She spent her early years helping look after siblings, which instilled in her the value of putting others first.

Kathy married her husband, Robert Hess, on May 10, 1990. They went on to have one child, Melissa. After giving birth at the age of forty, she always said this was her miracle in life. Kathy cherished being a mother and was always there for her daughter, even when she herself was suffering. She was a gem of a human and a wonderful mom at that.

She was a woman who had a multitude of skills and professions which she excelled at. While being a nursing assistant, she touched the lives of every patient she cared for. She had a knack for baking, and for years would make stunning cakes for weddings and showers. During her time at Atherton Community Schools she worked as a para pro and secretary. She was even the president of the parent group and devoted so much of her time and effort towards making positive changes for the students.

Kathy was preceded by her parents, brother James, and sister Cynthia. She is survived by her husband, daughter, and siblings Christina, Tony, and Patrick. Her thoughtfulness, wit, and immense strength will be deeply missed. Kathy will be forever loved and forever remembered. A memorial will be held on February 18th at the Pineview Clubhouse in Flint from 12:00-4:00 pm.
