Kathleen's obituary

Kathleen Walmsley

August 21, 1941 — October 23, 2024

With sadness, we announce the death of Kathleen Walmsley on October 23, 2024. She was a beloved community figure, avid book club fan, member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, volunteer for the Hagar House Shelter and Election Polls. Kathy, an admirer for the arts enjoyed unique paintings, pottery, sculpture, and literature.

Her disposition, personality was strong-spirited, kind, loving, witty, humorous, and left an unforgettable impression. Our family quote for her is "tiny in physical body; but, larger than life in spirit!"

Kathy was born and raised in Pennsylvania. Her fondest childhood memories were summers spent on the Northern Shores and evening political discussions with her family. Her competitive nature and cleaver mind was merciless as her game rival. If you have ever played boggle, scrabble, bridge, or cards against humanity with Kathy then you are smiling, laughing, or crying at this moment.

Kathy is an alumnus of Swarthmore High School and Penn State University. She graduated with a B.A. in Political Science. Kathy attended The University of the South (School of Theology) completed the program of Theological Education by Extension (Education of Ministry). Furthermore, political science, sociology, and theology were a continuous pursuit of learning. A knowledge acquisition that she translated into her career and interactions with others. She married her college sweetheart, John Walmsley. Kathy was a social worker until Johns' career (educator and headmaster) required moving to Long Island, New England, and Atlanta. She earned her Real Estate and Associate Brokers License that sparked a over 30 year career.

Kathy is survived by her son, Richard Walmsley and his wife, Carrie, beloved nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws. And her dog, Pixie. A devoted mother to Richard; which, reflected in her love, support, advice, patience, and bond they shared with each other.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Walmsley, her mother, Helen Rowe, her father, Jack Aull, and her brother, John Aull.

A celebration of life service will be held at The Church of the Epiphany on January 18, 2025 at 11 a.m.

Please wear bright colors to celebrate Kathy's vibrant life!
