Kathleen's obituary
Born in Detroit April 30, 1940 Kathy’s start in this world was not an easy one. But, she took that experience and made it a goal to be loving and kind to everyone she met.
Kathy grew up in Detroit where she met and married Douglas John Tadajewski (deceased March 2018) in September 1959. In 1974, the Tadajewski’s moved to Howell, MI where another chapter of Kathy’s life was soon to begin.
After raising their children, Kathy took a break from running the household and began working in the bindery department at the Livingston County Press. There she made life-long friends with her coworkers and supervisors. Through the years, Kathy‘s hard work and fun-loving spirit moved her up the ranks to supervisor of the bindery department. Little did the citizens of Livingston Co. and the surrounding area know but without Kathy at the press, they may have never gotten their paper on time for many years.
When Kathy retired in 1999, she and Doug moved to Harrison, MI where they enjoyed a quieter life. During their many years together, Kathy and Doug fed their wanderlust with trips to the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East and even entertained a permanent move to Barcelona.
When not country-hopping, they drove across the US in their motorhome, from New Jersey to California — with stops in between — to visit family and all their many friends. It was never a surprise to hear that Kathy made friends wherever they parked for the night.
A thrill-seeker through and through, Kathy never turned down an adventure at any age. Rollercoasters at Cedar Point, whitewater rafting in Colorado, zip-lining (anywhere they’d let her), camel riding in Cairo or dancing in the streets of New Orleans...if there was fun to be had, Kathy was game.
Kathy had a deep faith to which she clung. As a member of multiple congregations, Kathy always sang loudly and passionately. She eventually joined the church choir to share and spread her faith through song. A sticker on the door to her home reads: “Life with Jesus is better.” She absolutely believed this and now she is celebrating in His glory.
Kathy who was lovingly referred to as “Gracie” to Doug’s “George” because of her sense of humor is dearly missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered for her sweet smile, beautiful skin, perfect pie crusts, genuine kindness and love of life.
She is survived by her children: Sandra (Polhamus), Kevin and wife, Christine (Posigian); Michelle and husband, Jerry Fredericksen; Nicole and partner, Matt Pekula. Grandchildren: Jason, Patrick, Justin, Brayden, Allison, Felix, Silas, Gwen Warner and Scott Polhamus. Great Grandchildren: Jared, Kayla, Ashli, Daniel, Lily Ann and Josh.
