Kathleen (Kathy) Ann Schlosser, 58, a resident of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, passed away suddenly on December 8, 2022.

Kathy was born January 16, 1964 to Clemens John and Marie Josephine (Thome) Schlosser at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, Minnesota. She was the seventh child born to the couple. The family also includes Kathy’s siblings Patricia, Jean, Michael, Mary, Thomas & Joseph.

Kathy attended St. Philip’s Catholic School through 6th grade and then Litchfield, Minnesota Junior and Senior High Schools. She graduated from LHS in 1982. Kathy attended the College of St. Benedict for a year and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis in April of 2001.

Kathy met the love of her life, Michael L. Johnson in 1997. They purchased their home in Brooklyn Center where Kathy shared the last 25 years of her life with Mike.

Kathy’s family always enjoyed listening to her play the piano, especially at Christmastime. She played as a choir accompanist and church organist in her earlier years. When she was able to work, her favorite position was working at a Senior residence in Plymouth, MN – leading them in games and other creative senior activities and playing the piano for them. Kathy was a big fan of Lorie Line. She loved playing Lorie’s beautiful piano arrangements. Kathy also enjoyed spending time with her family, playing games, spending time in the outdoors, taking nature walks through the beautiful Minneapolis parks and riding her bicycle she fondly called “Phyllis.” And best of all, Kathy loved doting on her two black and white cats; Amelio, a cute tuxedo, and Josie.

Kathy’s road through life was challenging and never an easy one. She was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in her early twenties and struggled to manage this debilitating disease. As hard as she tried to manage her illness, the highs and lows worsened as she aged. She lived with the stigma of mental illness and often said she felt Bipolar Disorder stole her hopes and dreams. Her family is thankful to all her doctors and health care providers in Minneapolis who worked with her over the years, helping her manage her illness the best she could over her lifetime.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Clem & Marie Schlosser and her paternal and maternal grandparents and all her aunts and uncles. She is survived by her life partner, Michael Johnson of Brooklyn Center, MN and her siblings: Patricia (Chuck) Krekelberg of Pelican Rapids, MN, Jean (Denny) Peterson of Racine, WI, Michael (Shawn Crytser) Schlosser of Chandler, AZ, Mary (Stewart Hazel) Schlosser of Meridian, ID, Thomas Schlosser of Minneapolis, MN and Joseph Schlosser of Hopkins, MN. Kathy is also survived by her niece, Joy (Kent) Bauman and their children Avery, Carter & Rylie, and nephews, Chuck Krekelberg and his son Marcel, Bill (Marielle Isenberg) Krekelberg and their daughter Violet, Ian Hazel, Stuart Rawling, Logan (Marissa) Schlosser, Luke (Natalie Kerber) Schlosser and Sean Fanning and many maternal & paternal cousins and their families.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Litchfield, Minnesota with visitation at 9:30 am, Memorial at 10:30 am, followed by interment at the columbarium in Calvary Cemetery.
