Kathleen's obituary
Kathleen W. McArthur passed peacefully in her sleep on 10 March 2024 after battling complications from pneumonia for a short period. She would have been 80 this year (born 8 July 1944 in Schenectady, NY). Her final days were spent with her family, saying goodbye to her loved ones. In fact, Kathleen’s “life’s work” was her family.
She was survived by her husband of 59 years, Kent of Rocklin, CA, their son Quinn (wife Linda and children Madeline and Sean) of Roseville, CA and their daughter Maggie (husband Steve and children Catherine and Aren) also of Roseville. She also left behind her brother Peter Wyatt of Dayton, NV and countless cousins, nieces and nephews scattered about the country. Her parents, Walter and Helen Wyatt of Cupertino, CA and siblings Michael of Richmond, MO and Margaret of San Francisco predeceased her.
Kathleen took great pride in the character and accomplishments of her offspring but was too humble to accept any of the credit for which she was certainly due. She poured her heart and soul into each of those relationships and lived her life from one family function to the next, tirelessly supporting them at ball games, dog shows, triathlons, talent shows, performances, and skating competitions. Her thoughtful and caring demeanor endeared her to all of her family members and friends whose lives she touched.
Kathleen graduated from Mt. San Jacinto College with honors in Physical Education. Her athletic ability enabled her to compete in many sports including her favorites: softball, bowling, golf and badminton. Her athletic interests carried over to professional sports such as baseball (NY Yankees) and basketball (Golden State Warriors) for which she was a passionate fan. She had a love of movies, pop music and pinochle. Kathleen was an excellent cook. Family members were frequent beneficiaries of her skills and interests. She and Kent traveled extensively in Europe and also enjoyed many cruises, often with friends. Her appreciation for antiques resulted in the acquisition of treasures from around the county used to decorate her home. Her love of interior decorating was not wasted as for the last few decades, Kathleen and Kent migrated seasonally between their homes in Rocklin, Twin Lakes Village, ID and Palm Desert Greens, CA, making each destination a homey and welcoming place for spending time with friends and family.
Kathleen’s passing leaves a huge hole in the lives of those who loved her. Heaven has received a beautiful soul full of helpful support and unconditional love.
We will be celebrating her life at 1:30 pm on May 4th at Chapel of the Valley, 97 Vernon St. in Roseville, CA. Gifts in Kathleen’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s or the Alzheimer’s Association.
