Kathleen "Kati"'s obituary
Kathleen (Kati) Fonte, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on February 23, 2026 at the age of 79.
Survived by a family who adored her: son Mark Ehlers, daughter in law Kelly Ehlers, grandsons Cody Ehlers, Clayton Ehlers, Max Ehlers, granddaughter Maddie Ehlers, siblings Jim Fonte, Randy Beeninga, and Kathryn Bjorn, former spouse Ray Ehlers, son's partner Tracy Czubakowski, former daughter in law Dawn Ehlers, and friends, colleagues, and loved ones who will forever remember her kindness.
Kati was preceded in death by her son, Scott Ehlers and brother, Tom Fonte.
Kati was a woman whose warmth and joyful spirit touched everyone who knew her. Loving and incredibly generous, she had a wonderful sense of humor that made people feel instantly at ease. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures — roller-skating, going for bike rides, and getting lost in a good book.
Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She loved to share her stickers so much that they affectionately gave her the nickname “Grandma Stickers”. A title she wore proudly and one that will forever bring smiles to those who knew her.
Kati had a playful way of expressing delight, often saying “Tres Cool,” (derived from French for "very cool") a slang phrase that perfectly captured her lighthearted outlook on life. Whether she was telling jokes or spending time with family, she made the world around her brighter.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she gave so freely and the beautiful memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that her caring spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
