Kathleen's obituary
Kathleen Ann (Kelley) Timney, formerly of Fair Oaks, went home to be with Our Lord on Monday, October 14, 2019, in Rochester, PA, after a valiant fight against vascular dementia.
Born on January 25, 1942, Katey was the daughter of the late James and Virginia Kelley. She grew up in Fair Oaks, graduating from St. Veronica High School.
“I was sick, and you took care of me.” (Matthew 25:36)
Her professional studies started at Ambridge’s Public School of Nursing and her career began as an LPN, which sparked her love of nursing and compassion for the sick. Katey progressed her profession through Home Health, private duty nursing, and providing service to the Sisters of St. Joseph’s in Baden, PA, aiding the retired nuns. Katey did not shy away from hospice assignments and there were many throughout her career. In the end, it is fitting that the hospice nurses of today, along with her devoted family, guided her last days.
Katey’s love for the Sisters of St. Joseph’s went beyond a place of employment. She felt it was an honor to help the Sisters, since they had dedicated themselves to God and God’s work. Katey joined the Christian St. Joseph Association, where members commit themselves by formal promise to embrace the mission of unity and reconciliation.
In addition to her parents, and her loving husband, Richard L. Timney, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ellen (Kelley) Lyons, Dorene (Kelley) Gill; and her four brothers, Thomas, James, Anthony and Paul Kelley.
She is survived by her children, James Timney (Costa Rica), Robert (Bob) Timney (State College, PA), Elizabeth (Betty) and Chuckie Dean (Beaver, PA), and John and Juanita Timney (McMurray, PA).
Mimi and Grandma were the names fondly provided to her by her loving grandchildren, Ric Timney and Debbie Little (James), Kelly, Tricia and Patrick Timney (Bob), John Thompson, Chris Thoma, Emily Morgan, Charlie and Jason Dean (Betty), and Harper and Liam Timney (John).
She is also survived by two brothers and multiple in-laws; A. William and Jewel Kelley, of Rochester, NY, Peter and Bethea Kelley, of Beaver, PA, Gloria Kelley, of Sewickley, PA, Shirley Dravich, of Grove City, PA, Jerry and Sandy Timney of Houston, TX, Robert Verigood, of Lancaster, PA and dozens of beloved nieces and nephews.
And saving the best for last, Katey had six amazing great-grandchildren who will rely on their parents to share beautiful stories, Darian, Jaxson, Raygan, Kendra, Brynlee and KJ.
Katey was a friend of Lois W. for four decades and a Eucharistic Minister for multiple years including taking the body of Christ to the sick and elderly in their homes. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking, sewing and coloring.
Friends are invited to call on her Friday, October 18th, from 2-8 pm at Poland Funeral Home, 901 1st Avenue, Conway, PA 15027. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church in Sewickley on Saturday, October 19th, at 10 am. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Sisters of St. Joseph’s of Baden.
