Kathy's obituary

In loving memory of an extraordinary human – Kathleen Lora Jabri (née Dennison), 62, lost her battle with breast cancer on February 20th, 2024, surrounded by her adoring family under the care of professionals at William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Kathy was born in Perth, Australia on December 16th, 1961 to Imogene Lora Newton and Robert Glen Dennison. She is survived by her husband Rae Dornan; daughters Barbie Jabri and Stephanie Jabri; siblings Jeep Suddeth, Bob Dennison, Sue Dennison, and Deb Dennison; and countless friends and extended family. She is also survived by her former husband Hassan (Sam) Jabri. She was preceded in death by her parents Lora and Bob, brother Bill Dennison, nephew Dane Stream, and nieces Lora and Evy Dennison.

Kathy grew up as a citizen of the world, living in London, Corpus Christi, McAllen, Algiers, Palma de Mallorca, Houston, Tehran, and Jakarta before settling down in north Dallas. In her teenage years, Kathy cherished time with her best friend Patricia and their time on the Lamar High School Arrowettes drill team. She earned an associates degree from the University of Texas at Arlington before pursuing a successful 35 year career in real estate, including 20+ years at William Davis Realty, where she was a multi-time earner of the Top Producer award. She approached real estate with excellence, professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm, always going above-and-beyond to take care of her clients, from negotiating, market research, staging homes, and even helping sellers clean their bathroom a time or two! She loved the flexibility of being a real estate agent, and her experience moving every two years while growing up helped her understand the importance of finding a place to call “home”.

Kathy embodied kindness, generosity, and empathy; she never met a stranger in her warm embrace. She loved the activities she shared with friends and family, including Jazzercise, yoga, swimming, meditation, ballroom dancing, water skiing, spiritual practices, hot tubs, adventures, floating in the ocean, and dancing to 80s music. She became the leader of Girl Scout Troop 851 and coordinated countless camping trips and service activities.

She instilled in her children a passion for travel, especially the art of enjoying a good beach. Kathy was a supportive and loving mother, encouraging her daughters to dream big and pursue their interests. She enthusiastically attended every soccer game, softball game, basketball game, gymnastics meet, horseback riding lesson, piano lesson, Tae Kwon Do lesson, and orchestra concert (of which there were many!) and regularly listened to the recorded orchestra CDs decades later.

She maintained a positive and humorous attitude throughout her life, continuing to crack jokes until her very last moments. Her resilience, bravery, patience, and practice of gratitude inspired all of us.

The family wishes to thank all involved with Kathy’s care. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the Chisholm Trail Greenbelt in Plano in March or April (details to follow). For those able, please consider donating blood at a local blood center.

As we mourn her physical absence, her love, laughter, and memories will persist in our hearts.
