Kathleen's obituary
She was born to the late Roger and Alice Gathercoal on October 17th, 1956 in Chicago, IL. Kathy graduated from George Mason High School in Falls Church, VA. She went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps, where she reached the rank of Corporal before being medically discharged during her second pregnancy.
Kathy relocated to Midland, MI in 1987 and was a devoted mother to her four growing children. She absolutely adored being a mama and she showed it in many ways. Memories of Christmas Eve scavenger hunts, trips to many sports practices and games, homemade halloween costumes, school projects and events instilled that same love of family in her kids.
Kathy is survived by her four children, Vickie Rodgers and husband Jimi (Chop) of East Lansing, MI, Dan Hansens of Chicago, IL, Brittany Cook and her husband Pat of Cedar Springs, MI, and Stephanie Walter and her husband Rob of Lansing, Mi, three grandchildren, Elijah, Alyce, and Aurora, sister Karen Clayton of Aiken, SC, brother Joe Gathercoal of Tomsbrook, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roger and Alice Gathercoal, her brothers Jim Gathercoal, Bill Gathercoal, and Mike Gathercoal.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday January 25th, 2020 at 242 Community Church, 2600 Bennett Rd, Okemos, MI 48864, at 11 am with a small reception to follow.
