Kathleen's obituary
Kathleen Diane Good, a cherished soul, took her final rest on March 16, 2024 at 2:52am at Presbyterian Hospital in Whittier, CA as a result of long term health complications. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Detroit Michigan, on November 30, 1950. She was one of three, and youngest of Margret Mary Sorke (Rose) and Harold Decker.
At the age of six her and her family moved to California. She attended Orange Grove elementary, Dexter Middle school and Whittier High school. At the age of fifteen she met John Good through his sister Margret Good, John said, “It was love at first sight.”
Kathleen and John would have been celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary on July 3, 2024. They both knew they wanted a big family and had eight children together: Kristine, Gina, Matthew, Thomas, David, Brian, Aaron and Theresa. She was a loving grandmother to nineteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She took joy in the simple things in life: cooking, gardening, scrapbooking, family time and camping but being a mother was her most treasured attribute. She was also known as a baby whisperer. Eileen Good Elamil said she could make any baby stop crying by simply holding them. Eileen remembers her always saying, “just give me that baby!”
She was dedicated to her faith and work at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church where she was a pillar of her community. Feeding the homeless was just one of the ways she showed her love for all.
She navigated life with relentless grace and courage. Known for her radiant smile and boundless compassion, Kathleen left an indelible impact on everyone she encountered.
She will be profoundly missed by her loving Family, who she devoted her life to. Despite their intense grief, we take solace in the fact that her legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire us and guide us forward.
May the peace that Kathleen embodied be with her as she journeys to her final resting place.
