Kathy's obituary

Kathleen "Kathy" Couvillion, née Sidary, passed away on February 13, 2026, in Brandon, Mississippi, at the age of 72. Born on October 15, 1953, in Edgeworth, Pennsylvania, she was the cherished daughter of Tim and Maura Sidary.

Kathy’s early years in Edgeworth were marked by a love of learning and a drive for achievement that would shape her life. She was a 1971 graduate of Quaker Valley High School, then went on to graduate from Pennsylvania State University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. Her passion for writing led her to further her education at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she earned a Master of Arts in Communications in 1984.

Kathy dedicated the majority of her professional life to serving others through her work with the postal service. Her commitment and diligence were recognized throughout her career, culminating in several awards and honors. Among these accolades, she was especially proud of receiving a Red Ford Thunderbird in 2005—a testament to her outstanding contributions and dedication to her work. After decades of service, Kathy retired from government employment in 2010.

Family was always at the heart of Kathy’s world. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Michael Sr.; her son Michael Jr. and daughter-in-law Ashley; her daughter Sara and son-in-law Dayton; her sister Kara and brother-in-law Brandon; her sister Kristie; and her grandchildren Kaitlin, Kris, and Sean. Known affectionately as “Nanna” by her grandchildren, Kathy found immense joy in their company and took great pride in their accomplishments.

Kathy’s family circle included those who preceded her in death: her father Tim, mother Maura, brother Kyle, and brother-in-law Randall (from Kristie).

Throughout every chapter of her life—from student to professional to devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend—Kathy touched those around her with warmth and steadfast support. Her legacy endures not only through the achievements she garnered but also through the love she shared with family and friends. She was a huge animal rescuer, helping home over ten rescue dogs throughout the later course of her life. At the time of her passing, she was guarded by Rocko.

May Kathleen "Kathy" Couvillion’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Funeral will be held on February 18, 2026, starting at 2:00PM at Lakeland Place Memorial Park in Brandon, Mississippi.
