Kay's obituary
Katherine Kay Thompson Harkless was a wonderful, smart-mouth woman, who preferred, insisted really, to be called Kay.
She loved animals, and would always have a house full of them, because she couldn’t turn away an animal in need.
She kept her smokes in her bra; along with her wallet, and wasn’t afraid to reach down her shirt in public to get them.
She would always yell for her husband, Charles, to do things she could do herself. At a family get together, we were making fun of her for it, and she got all huffy and stood up and said she didn’t have to listen to that. She then yelled “Charles, get my purse we are leaving!”
We all laughed even more as she proved our point, she told us to shut up and left. She wasn’t really mad, she was back the next day. It's what our family did joke about and with each other.
She loved smoking, she was a chain smoker and even near the end of her life she took a puff of a cigarette, while lifting her oxygen tube off her face.
She was born in Charleston, WV on Dec 21, 1949 to Dolly Vivian Estep and Herbert Earl Thompson.
She has two sisters, Wanda Diane Thompson and Rita Carol Thompson, and one brother, David Robert Thompson.
Kay married Charles Harkless, and they had one child. She lived in Ohio most of her adult life, with a few brief years in NC and back to her home state of WV in between.
She passed away on Jul 24, 2008 in Cleveland Clinic, in Ohio after a long time illness.
She is predeceased in death by her parents Herbert Earl Thompson and Dolly Vivian Estep Thompson.
She was followed in death by her sister Wanda Diane Thompson Keffer(in a year of each other). Their brother, David Robert Thompson, followed after them years later.
Her husband, Charles Harkless followed her as well, years later.
She is survived by her only living sibling, Rita Carol Thompson Oscha.
She was cremated in Ohio.
