Katherine's obituary
Katherine (Kathy) Drysdale 83 of Lorain passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Avon Place Nursing Care Facility in Avon, Ohio. Kathy was born on September 23, 1940, in Lorain, Ohio to Elizabeth (Mary) and Mike Minic. She was proceeded in death by both her parents and her husband of 53 years James Drysdale. She is survived by her son James (Marcia) Drysdale, grandson Quinn Drysdale, and niece Sandy Garcia, all of Lorain, Ohio, along with other friends and family.
Katherine spent the majority of her life being a full time home maker, being a loving wife and caring mother to Jim and Jimmy. She first met her husband Jim in 1959, when she was working at the Lorain Palace theatre. Jim was touring the states with his Canadian band The Atlantics. It was love at first sight and they were married a year later on April 2, 1960, although if Jim could have had it his way they would have married April 1s, (that is April Fool's Day)...of course Kathy said "no!" Later on, Jim and Kathy started studying the Bible together and were both baptized as one of Jehovahs Witnesses, attending the Lorain East Congregation together for many years.
On April 29, 1961, in Toronto, Canada, they welcomed their one and only child James Michael Drysdale into the world. From the onset Jimmy was a mamas boy, and Kathy would spare no expense to give her only little boy the world! Kathy was known for being a truly generous person to all in her life. There wasn’t an ‘happy anniversary’, or ‘get well soon’ card that she missed for a friend!
Kathy also had a love of the outdoors, gardening, planting and keeping up the landscaping of her home, (even if that just meant sitting on the front porch step, while she told Jim to move plants from here to there). However, perhaps one of Kathy’s greatest loves aside from her friends and family were her pets. Kathy was known for her love animals! Wanting to feed and care for any stray cat that made its way onto her porch, and her and Jim had the most unconventional yet endearing names for all of them.
Words cannot begin to express how much Kathy will be missed as a mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. All who loved her eagerly wait to see her again once she is resurrected onto a Paradise earth as is promised in God's word The Bible. We the family would also like to express our deep love and gratitude to all who have supported us during this very difficult time.
Memorial services will be announced in the coming days.
