In Loving Memory of Katharine Ann (Bemis) Elson (Katy) October 26, 1937 - October 15, 2023.

Katharine Ann Elson (Katy) passed away peacefully at her home in Florida. Her loved ones surrounded her as she transitioned to heaven. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, generosity, and service to others that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Katy was born in Bondurant, Iowa, to proud parents Willa and Walter Bemis. She leaves behind her children, Michael, William, Jennifer (and Jeff Perry), and her grandchildren, Elysha, Sydney, Lydia, Blake, Jordan, and her namesake Katharine. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Carter, Presley, and Olivia. They will forever cherish the fond memories they created together.

Throughout her life, Katy's greatest passion was her involvement in the Iowa State Fair and North Iowa Fair. She loved her Delta Zeta Sorority sisters and earned her bachelor's degree from Iowa State University. Katy loved volunteering at thrift stores, serving at the local food bank, and helping at the election polls. She dedicated her time to various community organizations, including 4-H, Mason City and Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Auxilary, and The Rotary Club. Katy has a beautiful voice. She led Adult and Youth Choirs at church and was also a member of the Sweet Adelines Chorus.

Throughout her 85 years, Katy touched the lives of many. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration for all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Crossing Church in Ruskin, Florida, on November 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.

Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to her church, The Crossing Southshore, or Calvary's Angel Attic, Ruskin, Florida (a cause dear to her heart).
